Body art

 Physicality of an body art work -

One day when i was playing piano. I came up with this idea...

The melody of the songs are amazing that it sounds like our life. How beautiful and amazing our lives are, living under good condition in such an materialistic city.

However, in my own view, the melody in a piano is fixed with the limited level / amount of pitch. Seems like we are still limited by the piano key with its boring ordinary design from old ages till now. So I come up with my body art work as this.




The meaning of this art work is that " We are the one to create our own life~"
We hold our lives and create it. Do not hesitate with the limitation, with our own hand and fingers, we can play millions of melodies and create millions of chances for ourselves.

Every piano has same length for every piano key and therefore, every piano plays the same melody.  However, we need to admit that people have their own strengths and weaknesses. Everyone are unique like my fingers showing the diversity of people, talent and characteristics which there are longer and shorter. No matter hows the length, the melody and the appearance, our life are holding on our hands. Just play the piano well with what we are given,  

My own Sculpture

Week 3 Making our own sculpture. 

After many year since I graduated from my primary school, its a special art lesson for me. Making my own sculpture is not east at all. At first I think I can make it because I am familiar with myself. I start with the nose.  

 

With the time running short, I round up my sculpture with a few hair and this is my work. 

 I try to make a comparison between myself and my sculpture. For the first time in making this, I realize how poor the ratio is of my nose and face. It seems so unlike. 

 I am not satisfied with what I make in the lesson with limited time and zero experience. Therefore, I try again at home afterward. From the previous experience, I learn to control the ratio carefully, make the eyes and eyebrows in more detail. As well as the hair I use a whole piece clay this time and engrave the hair style out. It seems more alike this time and i have spent around 3 hours on this second sculpture. :))

Week 2



From the experience of week 1, I still hope to make some interesting sculptures by cutting the middle of paper in strips and try to create some 3D objects.
At the begining, I planned to create a paper dinosaur, but after I stuck it on the table for making it more 3D, it didn't look like a dinosaur but a strange fish. So at last I added a head for it which is composed by many useless paper.

Paper sculpture

week 1

 

This paper sculpture is composed by circles and curves. I try to create it with the same slip of paper. For the bottom part, I used the slip of paper to create a lot of circles as the base. At the begining, I tried to use all circles and link them up to create a sculpture.  However I found it doesn't look good, so I added some curves to surround it.

 

 I tried to fold the paper in different angles and cut it in strips. With different ways of folding, the paper sculpture showed a different style of the combination of curves.
